Cape Point Woman’s Day Competition Winner

Woman’s Day started a little gloomy with overcast skies, but Erin Carstens , the winner of the Cape Point Partnership Woman’s Day competition, was about to be treated to an exceptional Woman’s Day out!  555

The wet and windy weather couldn’t dampen the excitement of Erin and her three friends, as the limousine made its way through the picturesque False Bay towns towards Cape Point.

Fortunately blue skies met the group as they reached the Cape of Good Hope and they took full advantage of the break in the weather to take in the spectacular views around Cape Point.

There’s no better place to spend Woman’s Day than at the Two Oceans Restaurant After a glass of bubbly and admiring the breathtaking views from the restaurant’s deck, the group was served the sumptuous Two Oceans signature dish consisting of crayfish, queen prawns, calamari, shelled mussels, fresh fish fillets served  with a Cape Seafood Curry.  This dish has been featured on the Travel Channel by BBC series presenter, Henry Cole.

611Erin and her friends ended the day by doing what women do best, shop!  Each worked hard at spending their R500 voucher on anything from sunglasses and clothing to chic African décor.

The group has many more exciting experiences to look forward to.  The goody bag that they each received includes complimentary wine tasting at Groot Constantia; complimentary entry to Kirstenbosch Gardens; tickets for the Wheel of Excellence at the V&A Waterfront and a sunset cruise from the Waterfront Boat Company.594

What Erin had to say when asked about what her most memorable part of the day was:   “This was our first time in a limo!  The facial expressions of the people when we got out of the limo on arrival and when we were collected in front of the curio store was PRICELESS!  The view from one of the smaller lookout points at the top near the lighthouse was incredible, you could see a very small beach way down below.  The area looked like something from a National Geographic movie! Another favourite was the view from the panoramic windows in the Two Oceans Restaurant.  We will definitely be back to Cape Point soon! "

New Flying Dutchman launches at Cape Point

The Cape Point Partnership unveiled a new and improved Flying Dutchman funicular to the tourism trade and media at Cape Point on Tuesday, 8th June 2010.

The funicular, which transports visitors up the steep slope to popular lookout points just below the lighthouse, was upgraded, and now boasts a new body, safer braking technology and bigger windows that allow visitors a 360 degree view throughout their ride. The new system has been designed to minimise the funicular’s carbon footprint; with low solar powered batteries charged by photovoltaic panels while in transit, the new Flying Dutchman is more environmentally friendly than ever.
